HELP STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE & SEXUAL ASSAULT IN OUR
COMMUNITY! BECOME A VOLUNTEER!

Redding, California - Shasta Women's Refuge (SWR) is in need of volunteers! We are looking for individuals who have a heart for helping people, and want to make a difference in their community. We are looking for volunteer advocates to give their time on our Crisis Line, SWR Crisis Center, and to provide client advocacy at the Shasta Family Justice Center. There is a special need for volunteers who are bilingual and bicultural.

Shasta Women’s Refuge provides solid training and excellent support for our volunteers so they can provide this vital service with confidence and knowledge. Being a volunteer is also an excellent reference for anyone interested in social services, law enforcement and/or counseling fields, retirees are also encouraged to join. The training is regulated by the California Emergency Management Agency as outlined in Penal Code section-13835.10 and is a prerequisite to becoming a Women’s Refuge Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Counselor.

To join this special group of volunteers, we invite you to call our Client Services Office to learn more about being a and how you can participate in the training where you will learn about domestic violence and sexual assault and the impact on both victims and the community, along with the best way to help victims become healthy survivors. Our February 2012 training is scheduled to begin on February 7 th. The class will run for approximately 8 weeks.
