Getting Help Print E-mail

If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship or has been sexually assaulted call Shasta Women’s Refuge’s 24-Hour Crisis Line 530.244.0117. Tell Someone. Help Someone.

Not ready to call? Unsure of what to do? Read below for some helpful advice.

If you are living with domestic violence:

·        Remember this is not your fault and that you deserve to live a life free of violence.

·        Learn to recognize the growing potential of violence in your partner.

·        Notify a neighbor to be alert to strange noises and to call the police.

·        If it is safely possible, get rid of all weapons in your home.

·        Create a safety plan for yourself. Click here for a printable safety plan.

If you are sexually assaulted:

·        Get to a safe place.

·        Try not to shower, bathe, douche, wash your hands, brush your teeth, or use a toilet.  Don’t change or destroy clothing.  Try not to straighten up.  If you do, you may destroy important evidence.

·        Get medical attention as soon as possible.
