The Shasta Women's Refuge is a volunteer driven organization. We have an average of one hundred and fifty active volunteers at all times, donating an average of 33,000 hours each year. These volunteers provide services ranging from helping with occasional mailings to staffing the 24-hour crisis line.

Whether you want to give a few hours once a year at a fund-raiser, or volunteer on a regular basis every week, we have a place for you.

Because of the nature of our work, all volunteers go through an application and screening process. We have made it easy for you to apply. Simply download the application provided, fill it out, and then call SWR’s Office Manager, Merry Jo Booth at (530) 244-0118 ext 201 or mail it to our Client Services office, 2280 Benton Drive, Bldg A Redding, Ca 96003.

Volunteers will be interviewed by a program manager. In addition to the program manager learning about you, your interests and qualifications, this is your opportunity to learn more about SWR and the position for which you are applying. In those instances where volunteers are to be placed in direct contact with clients, more specific screening procedures may be instituted including reference checks, fingerprinting and a request for a DMV printout.
